Why It Matters
Sustainable Clothing
There is no industry standard for sustainability, so we set our own (very high) bar.
The Highest Sustainability Standards
100% of our clothing is made with a minimum of 80% sustainable fibers and/or fabrics that have met Earth-friendly bluesign® or OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certifications.
THE UNIFORM OF THE GOOD DOER
At it since ‘96 with low impact materials and processes
We started Toad&Co upcycling fleece scraps into toque hats in Telluride, CO
We're early adopters of TENCEL™ (You might recognize this fiber in our fave fabric, Samba)
We stopped using acrylic (toxic carcinogens, yuck!) and then nixed rayon/viscose (a fiber with a heavy footprint)
We started using hemp and continue to grow our use of this super sustainable fiber
HOORAY! 100% of our cotton is either organic or recycled (and we're committed to keeping it that way)
Our entire line is made with at least 80% sustainable fibers and/or fabrics that have met third party eco certifications
We hit our goal of 20% recycled fibers (2 years early!)
We're working towards B Corp Certification
A Light Footprint
We’re committed to making choices with the lowest environmental impact every step of the way – from sourcing to production to how we ship our clothes – so you can feel good every time you get dressed.
Sustainable Materials
Not all clothes are created equal. We only use high quality, low impact materials that are designed to live many lives, like organic cotton, hemp, TENCEL™ Lyocell, and recycled fibers. And if a sustainable fabric isn’t cutting it on comfort, we’ll make our own custom blend until we get that softness just right.
Reusable and Recyclable Packaging
Real talk: Packaging is one of the biggest sustainability hurdles we face, but we do everything we can to lessen our impact when it comes to shipping and packaging. We’ve committed to removing all our plastic-based product packaging by 2026. Here’s how we’re doing it.
Resale Clothing
Our clothes were designed for endless adventures, and when it comes to good times we say “pass ‘em on.” Our ToadAgain resale clothing platform is like a thrift store online, where you can shop and sell pre-loved Toad&Co favorites. Our top reasons for buying and selling secondhand clothes? You can score one-of-a-kind gems (hello, compliments) and feel good keeping clothes out of the landfill while you do it.
Treading Lightly
Carbon Offsetting
Mother Nature's got our number, and we've got hers! Each year we crunch the numbers on our Scope 1 & 2 carbon footprint (that's the direct emissions from our operations and the energy we use), then team up with our friends at BEF to purchase carbon offsets that balance the scales. It's like leaving a tip for the planet after we've enjoyed the meal! These offsets support amazing projects that reduce greenhouse gases and create positive environmental impacts around the globe. That's how Toads roll—having fun while doing good!
Eco Certifications
Choosing to shop sustainable brands shouldn’t make your head spin. We rely on third party sustainability certifications like OEKO-TEX Standard 100® and bluesign® to keep our fibers accountable to Mother Earth. So you can rest easy knowing you’re rocking clean and high-quality clothes, and spend more time planning your next adventure.
